This photo story follows a daily journey of camels and their riders into the Thar desert, the heart of tourism in Jaisalmer, a region of Rajasthan in India. Sam dunes in Thar desert is famous spot for tourists for its spectacular sunset. It was in my checklist to visit during my 2 weeks long rapid travel around most of Rajasthan except Udaipur. Thar desert covers many hundred kilometres. However I visited only to the sunset point which is closer to the main Jaisalmer Town. Men from teenage to elderly are involved in this tourism where they will walk with tourists on their camels for many kilometres which they do daily during the peak seasons. In a desert it is not a simple thing to walk up and down in sands and many of them are already suffering from arthritis. However the industry continues as it is what gives them the best income in this harsh environment. Nevertheless Thar desert and its majestic beauty are not to be missed by anyone visiting Rajasthan.
