Ladakh, a part of Jammu- Kashmir in India is a majestic land of forts, monasteries and crops of villages. This ancient Kingdom in Himalayan ranges possess vast cultural elements those are yet to explore in depth. I have heard from the fellow travellers, of the various experiences they get each time they visit this place. My journey lasted couple of weeks and one important part of the journey was experiencing the countless monasteries and the lifestyle of its inhabitants, Buddhist monks. This series of photographs were made in Thiksey monastery during the hours of morning prayers. Each and every monks were busy with some sort of tasks and it was pretty difficult to choose what to photograph and what to leave. Sometimes leaving the camera behind and listening to the chants and friendly chats with the monks raised the curiosity towards exploration even more. I was lucky to witness the art of ‘Mandala’ that day, which happens only few times each year. It was a little world with so much of silent yet full of actions.
